• Juventus inflicted Inter's second home league defeat of the season. The Nerazzurri only lost once at San Siro − against AC Milan last term − in their previous three Serie A campaigns.

• Inter have shipped 16 goals in their first nine league fixtures; it took until the 17th game of last season to concede the same amount.

• Thiago Motta marked his maiden Serie A appearance of the season with the only goal, Inter's first at home in any competition in 2011/12, as the Nerazzurri defeated AC Chievo Verona on 23 October.

• Three days later Inter were denied another win by Germán Denis's equaliser, Wesley Sneijder having put Claudio Ranieri's team ahead at Atalanta BC.

• Inter lost 3-0 to SSC Napoli on 1 October, their heaviest home league defeat since a 6-0 reverse against AC Milan in May 2001.

• Ranieri marked his first game as Inter coach with a 3-1 victory against Bologna FC on 24 September, 48 hours after replacing Gian Piero Gasperini. It was the Nerazzurri's first win of the campaign.

• Gasperini, who took over from Leonardo on 24 June, was dismissed on 21 September following the previous day's 3-1 defeat by Novara Calcio. He oversaw just four competitive fixtures – three losses and a draw.

Injury news
• Maicon will miss matchday four after straining his left thigh on Saturday. Júlio César was ruled out for a month after picking up a similar injury against Atalanta.

• Walter Samuel (out since 15 October) and Coutinho (13 October) have also been sidelined by thigh strains while Motta missed the Juventus match with a minor thigh injury.

• Luca Caldirola sat out the Juventus defeat after twisting his left ankle in training.

• Iván Córdoba, not in Inter's UEFA Champions League squad, is back in action after six months out with a knee injury.

• Lille are 13 games unbeaten away from home in all competitions, since losing 1-0 at AS Monaco FC on 9 April.

• Pedretti, Joe Cole and Ireneusz Jeleń scored as Lille reached the French League Cup quarter-finals by beating second-tier CS Sedan-Ardennes 3-1 on 26 October. Their reward is a tie at Olympique Lyonnais on 10 January.

• Marko Baša's first league goal since April 2009, when he was with FC Lokomotiv Moskva, helped Lille to a 3-1 win against Lyon on 23 October.

• Rudi Garcia's side have lost twice in their last 29 matches in all competitions at the Stadium Lille Métropole – a 1-0 defeat by Montpellier Hérault SC on 14 August and the matchday three reverse against Inter.

• That loss to the Nerazzurri is Lille's only defeat in their past 14 matches.

Injury news
• Baša was withdrawn with a shoulder injury after six minutes against Valenciennes on Sunday.

• Florent Balmont (dead leg) and Laurent Bonnart (knee) suffered knocks against Sedan and though both recovered to face Valenciennes, Balmont was taken off with another muscular knock before the hour.

• Túlio De Melo made his first appearance of the season against Sedan having recovered from a leg injury.
